About Premier Builders Guild

Premier Builders Guild (PBG) enables you to choose from an exciting portfolio of boutique, master built guitars and amps — without the uncertainty, long wait times and lack of customer support often associated with boutique instruments. We’re comprised of leading boutique builders supported by proven management, sales, dealer and customer service teams. PBG makes a boutique, master built instrument a new and easily available alternative in your search for that perfect guitar or amp. All PBG instruments are built in the USA.

The PBG guitar workshop is located in Arroyo Grande, California, where PBG Chief Master Builder Gene Baker and his expert build team build:

  • b3 Guitars by Gene Baker
  • Fano Guitars, designed by luthier Dennis Fano
  • The Koll Guitars Glide series (Super Glide Almighty, Duo Glide™, Junior Glide)
and new Troubadour model, designed by luthier Saul Koll especially for PBG.

Gene is in close contact with Dennis and Saul at every stage of the builds of their respective guitars.

Two-Rock amps are built at the Two-Rock workshop in Rohnert Park, California, under the direction of Two-Rock Co-Founder Bill Krinard, Chief Designer Chad Mangrum and General Manager Mac Skinner.

Tone King amps are designed by amp master builder Mark Bartel at the Tone King workshop in Baltimore, Maryland and then built at the Two-Rock workshop. Bill, Chad and Mac are in close contact with Mark at every stage of Tone King builds.

“By providing leading boutique builders with business and production support, we can make their exceptional instruments more widely and easily available.”

That insight drove Michael Bernstein to launch Premier Builders Guild in late 2009. A self-described “gear nut” who collects boutique guitars, Michael came to know many leading boutique luthiers. He understood their desire to spend less time on the “business” part of their business so they could be free to create new and innovative designs. In conversations with dealers, players and other collectors, Michael also realized that there is great interest in boutique instruments – if they could be made more accessible and be better supported.

Before founding PBG Michael led a large corporate merchandise company. By implementing a new business approach featuring contemporary design, guaranteed delivery times and innovative customer service, he grew that firm from a regional concern to a global leader.
